Brent Kuhlmann- Photography
Brent Kuhlmann
Studio 10
Brent’s early photographic training and experience came via traditional film and wet darkroom techniques. In addition to Brent’s forte for shooting, he is also a highly-skilled black & white printer. Currently, he utilizes high-resolution digital capture, along with medium and large format film cameras as called for by specific projects.
Brent’s inspiration for photography came about when he signed up for an “easy” art class in his final semester of college, just to fulfill a graduation requirement. The instructor projected slide-after-slide of ordinary objects which no one in the class could identify. At last, the old gentleman revealed what each object really was. It became clear, photography was about “seeing” in new ways, from fresh perspectives, and imparting to subjects a higher dignity than we normally allow them. That was the day Brent knew he wanted to be an artist. Thirty-four years later, here we are. It is with humble thanks that Brent acknowledges God’s grace.
In addition to photography, Brent is a metal sculptor who fashions designs from welded, weathered, carbon steel. As a former professional educator of 20 years, Brent acquired skills and experience working with students of all ages. He still uses his teaching skills via photo classes, workshops, and photo tours.
While Studio 10 at the Foundry Art Centre and redleafphotogallery highlight Brent’s artistic endeavors, you may also view his professional services at http://www.brentkuhlmannphoto.com.
