Numbers play an important role in our lives through quantity, rank, priority, and more; the role which numbers play in art is what the latest Foundry Art Centre exhibition will explore. Opening Friday, April 28, The Nth Degree will portray the influence of numbers and mathematics within art in Gallery I & II. Internationally-exhibited artist and instructor James Chase has juried an excellent collection of artwork submitted from artists across the nation and continent. A gallery talk will be given by Executive Director Melissa Whitwam at 5:30pm before the reception begins.
A special invitational exhibition will take place in Gallery III featuring artwork from regional and national artists who support the mission of the Foundry Art Centre. Friends of the Foundry is a collection of all-media artwork priced at $300 each. Raffle tickets for pieces in this collection will be sold at the FAC’s “Sky’s The Limit” Gala Fundraiser on Friday, May 5, 2017.
The Emerging Artist Series will feature Michigan artist Heather Macali in the Ameristar Gallery. Macali’s jacquard double weave tapestries use dynamic patterns and colors to convey the artist’s memories of an imaginative, altruistic childhood. Transformed will open in the Ameristar Gallery alongside The Nth Degree and Friends of the Foundry.
Enjoy food and drinks while chatting with exhibiting artists at the opening reception on Friday, April 28. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. These three exhibitions will open Friday, April 28, 2017 and close Friday, June 9, 2017. Financial assistance for these exhibitions is provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.
