Roberta Rose

MIXED MEDIA

Originally from southeast Missouri, Roberta Lynn Rose was raised with a love for painting, pottery, woodworking, stained glass, sewing, and various other fiber crafts. She obtained a B.S. in Industrial Arts and a B.S. in Art Education at Southeast Missouri State.

After graduation, she moved to Michigan where she taught Instructional Graphics in the Television Production Department at Ferris State University. She continued to paint in watercolor, and experimented in combining textured glass with her watercolor paintings. She is an award-winning artist with her watercolors as well as her mixed media paintings.

After moving back to Missouri, she began to see the potential in utilizing various skills learned from her past endeavors. She was accepted as a studio artist at the Foundry Art Centre in St. Charles, Missouri, which has enabled her to expand her artistic boundaries. The result being dimensional, textured, acrylic mixed media paintings.

These realistic highly textured paintings are designed to change the perspective of the viewer. They are created with a combination of acrylic gels and mediums. Details are added by using wood, clay, encaustic and rice paper. Stencils and molds are also used to create a sculptural/3D effect. The realistic and sculptural aspects of the paintings draw the viewer into places not noticed before. They cause the viewer to change their point of view beyond the electronic device that is held in their hands by ‘Looking Down’ at the ‘Landscapes Beneath Your Feet’
