Parking options

Juror: John Troy, Senior Professor of Art and Design, Lindenwood University

Media: Oils, acrylics, and watercolors are welcome

Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st ($100), 2nd ($75), and 3rd ($50) place winners. Winners will also have their paintings displayed at the Foundry for a month and receive recognition on FAC social media.

Lunch: Boxed lunches from Bread Co. will be provided. Lunches include a sandwich, chips, cookie, and bottled water. One lunch is included in the registration price, additional lunches may be purchased for $10.

Frontier Park, Riverside Drive, and Main Street from the FAC to Schlafly (#921 on map) are open to painting. Participants must stay within the event perimeter and may not bring any outside work to be judged.

About the Juror

John Troy received his BFA in Painting and Graphic Communication from Washington University in St. Louis and his MFA in Painting from the Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia.  He worked for six years as Assistant Dean at Tyler while exhibiting his paintings and drawings regularly on the east coast through representation by the Charles More Gallery of Philadelphia.  He worked as a commercial illustrator in Philadelphia and St. Louis for publishing houses, ad agencies, and major corporations such as Anhueser-Busch, Monsanto and McDonnel-Douglas.  He produced a line of greeting cards (Hairline Cards) for Cloud Nine Productions and a line of rubber stamp designs for That’s All She Stamped.  As an adjunct professor, he taught Drawing, Figure Drawing, Design, and Art Appreciation at the St. Louis Community College at Meramec for eight years.  He has worked full time as a commissioned portrait painter.  Since 2002, he has taught Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, and Art History at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, where he currently holds the rank of Professor and Art and Design Department Chair.  As a Journeyman Scenic Artist, he paints stage sets for the MUNY theatre in St. Louis during the summer season.
